There is a large car parking area a few metres past the end of the tarmac beside the last house on the right. The road to Croggan is narrow with comparatively few passing places and there are many animals – we negotiated numerous sheep, a small herd of cows (reluctant to move!) and several geese and goslings crossing the road. Keep your wits about you!

This is a really easy walk on the gravel and pebble track that continues from where the tarmac ends. You don’t need a gpx file: leave the car park, turn right and keep going for just over a mile until you reach the beach at Port Nan Crullach. This is an easy stroll. We read in one review of this walk that it’s suitable for families (definitely) and that the little beach was a good place to stop for lunch – so we did.

There was a group with a local guide and very long lenses on the low, rocky headland at the north end of the beach, so I assume this is a good place to spot wildlife – otters perhaps?  We enjoyed the tranquillity and watching the birds.

An easy walk and very pleasant on a sunny day.
