The what3words address takes you to the car park for the castle. There is some street parking in the village and also a small car parking area outside the village shop, but this only allows you a short time and is for customers only. The castle car park is best and the castle itself is free and definitely worth a visit: very picturesque.
We walked this anticlockwise, taking a left turn off the main street just after the church on your right and then following the Nunney Brook for a little while before crossing over and heading towards Whatley. Much of this walk is through woodland and many of the tracks are obvious if rather muddy; not a walk to do in sandals! The walk passes a few old, and current, quarry workings and that is evident in the middle section from the background noise of machinery. Towards the end you also walk through a lorry park (as you approach Holwell) with a gate at the far end that takes you back into woodland. Some sections in the last two miles also involve short sections on roads, and crossing a road, that are busy with quarry lorries: take care. This is a pleasant walk despite the occasional busy road and at the end the George Inn at Nunney provides a welcome stop for a beer and, perhaps, a bite to eat. There is seating outside the pub beside the river and, for us, that was a lovely spot to end the walk.
